Kathmandu: A photography exhibition by noted photojournalist Prakash Chandra Timilsena concluded at the Nepal Tourism Board premises in Bhrikutimandap, drawing nearly 1,000 visitors. The exhibition, titled ‘Barpak Photo Exhibition’, documented the transformation of Barpak over the ten years since the April 25, 2015 Gorkha earthquake.

The exhibition featured 60 compelling photographs, portraying the devastation caused by the quake, the struggles of reconstruction, and the socio-economic challenges faced by Barpak’s residents. Timilsena aimed to depict both the human suffering and the community’s resilience through his lens.

Prominent figures such as former Energy Minister Janardan Sharma, Kulman Ghising, Ajay Babu Shiwakoti, Ram Prasad Dahal, and Sarbendra Khanal visited the exhibition on Saturday. Earlier, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai visited on Friday, while General Secretary and MP Gagan Kumar Thapa inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday, joined by leaders including Ramhari Khatiwada and Nanu Bastola.

School students from institutions like LRI and John Debbie also attended the event, gaining insights into the impact of the disaster and the importance of resilience and documentation.

Organized by Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality, with support from Arghakhanchi Cement, Krishi Bikas Bank, and Global IME Bank, the exhibition was promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board and partnered by the Nepal Photo Library. All exhibited photographs will be preserved at the upcoming Earthquake Museum in Barpak, according to Timilsena.
